Eric Rosengren is a 35 year veteran of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, serving for 14 years as President and CEO.  He served on the Fed’s Open Market Committee during some of the most turbulent periods in the past 50 years, leading the Boston Federal Reserve Bank through the Great Financial Crisis and the Pandemic.  Eric’s deep understanding of financial markets and financial institutions enabled him to play a central role in designing and operating emergency facilities to bolster the national economy.

Eric was one of the few monetary policymakers with leadership experience in both bank supervision and research departments.  He was a strong advocate for addressing the challenges to financial stability and advocated for maintaining high regulatory standards.  He also has significant payments system experience overseeing the work conducted at the Boston Federal Reserve Bank on a real time payments system and the Federal Reserve’s efforts to develop the technology for a US digital currency.

An accomplished public speaker known for making complex economic content understandable, he provides a comprehensive description of the economic and financial challenges that we face.

Eric is currently a visiting professor at the MIT Sloan School Golub Center where he teaches financial regulation.
